I love to eat, cook and even watch people cook. One of the greatest things about living in such a cultured city is that no matter what time of day, where I am, or what I feel like, I can get it. Be it Chinese, Greek, Japanese, or a good North American burger, it's there. Freedom of choice my friends. August is a time in which everyone is busy with life. It's hot, Summer is nearing it's end and people want to celebrate all that they can during the civic holiday or even the rest of the month. You've heard me on thanksgiving and you're hearing me now: I can think of no better way to celebrate than to eat. It brings people together, their stomachs get the chance to splurge and it's not as though it's a chore. With that, I come baring news of Toronto's Greek town is having it's Taste of the Danforth next Friday (coming from me, unfortunately I will be on a canoe trip) and I can guarantee food and festivities for days. Not to mention lots of patios and freedom.

Get out there my friends. August 6 - 8th you can eat until your stomach can take no more. All while taking in the entertainment and refreshments. Toronto is home to over 200,000 Greeks. Newcomers you will be my stomach, go there and eat. Eat, eat, eat all the souvlaki on a pita your little heart desires and come back to tell me how friendly the Greek population of Toronto is. Also, of course, how great the food was.

MHB - Home Edition

With summer nearly upon us, my fellow youngster’s in Toronto are ready to leave behind this roller coaster-esque weather and shed those obnoxious layers that we seem to be questioning before every outing. While you’ve been deliberating on what to wear in case you are cold these past weeks, I have been exploring in as many ways as I possibly could in my free time. Cooking, socializing, walking, eating texting and sharing, it’s all been building up during The Mad Hatters Booklet’s “hiatus”.

Starting with a family friends business in case you happen to be one of those “whippersnapper’s” who are moving out this summer, Timbuktu Toronto is the most exotic, yet hospitable little furniture stores that up town Toronto has to offer. Since 1979 Timbuktu has been around providing unique hand crafted furniture and home outfitting straight from India. Truly a place in which one may love to spend an arm or leg on something as exquisite or divine as their carved peacock armoires. But since I would like to avoid looking like an over sized tabby I won’t even go there. On a trend savvy note, denim and studded sandals are back this season, who’s with me?

http://bit.ly/gdfSP.

Lastly, I need to mention Cathy McDougall. She’s a British contemporary dog portrait artist for, again, those young’ns or anyone else who are into neat little pieces that could go with any theme or style you may be going for. I can’t lie; this is something that should be hung in every dog loving home. Cathy McDougall’s web site is full of extraordinary little paintings of people’s beloved pets that you can take a look at your self. So as a follow up to MHB's 2009 playlist I will break it up into a few parts. This, I have been mustering since before the new year began. Consciously taking songs as they come and thinking about what's in store for the summer. Last summer - I can't lie- I gotta feeling was played at every party I had, went to or even heard of. It was played until it was down right rusty. Part one will consist of 2 or three songs that I can honestly say have made me hit the repeat button on a number of occasions.

1. So, I will use this as number 2 oh MHB's 2010 playlist.

That's all for this post, look for the rest in posts to come. Due March 12th 2010, Alice in Wonderland is stuffed with awesome graphics from the movie that entail hopping through mushroom fields as the white rabbit and even talking tulips. Alice, among other characters and their endeavors in defeating the Red Queen and the Jabberwocky- look it up this thing is freaky looking- endure many other adventures in this awesome looking adventure. I couldn't believe it, I'm extremely excited and thats all I can really say. Also check out Follow Me Down by 3OH!3 from the soundtrack and if you're into bright colored $50 make up, you can find the Alice in Wonderland make up set by Urban Decay from Sephora.

- Michael

Almost Alice!

Zealous. It's what I am. As soon as I was able to get my hands on this (as you can see) I felt the need to blog it for all else to see. Alice in Wonderland is among the "most anticipated movies of the year list" for MHB. As you saw in my Coraline post, I am forever going to be a fan of Tim Burtons work, not to mention the Mad Hatter of corse. As previously mentioned Avril Lavigne is among Wolfmother, The All American Rejects, All Time Low, Franz Ferdinand, all of which amazing artists to contribute to the track list. I can't bore you any more with my writing. This is it. Here it is:

<div style="font-size: 14px; So I decided why not share a gem or two in the dance world with everyone to improve their own awesome dance party ideas? This week it's Ultra Dance 11, mixed by Dj Enferno. I don't quite know what it is but Dj's with their poorly spelt names and Guido-esque hair styles, I just can't get enough of 'em. This 2 disc album came out yesterday and I can sure say I have been waiting for it to complete the good ol' American dance party dream I've had. On it you'll find Cobra Starship, Brittney Spears, Empire of the Sun and even a tiny bit of Teegan & Sarah. With that, I'm down. A dance party should also consist of music that makes you want to shout the lyrics, dance (evidently) and share. This is a pristine excuse for a dance party. Do it up.

One other thing that I need to mention without question is Alice by Avril Lavigne. You simply must check the first song that has been released in relation to Alice in Wonderland when you get the chance. My friends won't hear the end of my maundering on that one today.

Until next time, when I plan milking the Alice in Wonderland hype for all that it's worth, dance well.

Good bye holiday treats, hellooo fitness

Ok so this isn't going to be another "stay fit with this, and lose weight with that" sort of post but a brighter side of the entire inconvenience that is working out. This post is going to be a my "Work out playlist." Each spring brings a whole new season for track - my kind of sport- considering my friends like to compare me to a gazelle so right around this time I like to begin with my pushups and crunches before bed, my healthy smoothies and later in warmer weather, jogging. Alright who am I kidding? I only dream of being this consistant. Every year it seems I end up missing a week or indulging in that giant chocolate cake that sits in the fridge for no longer than a day. In all seriousness I would love to begin 2010 with a whole new goal, that is, to become a little toned. In order for such a miracle I am going to need some good music that will keep me going in the most dreadful, most insipid workouts. Here it is: MHB's Work Out Playlist (will change as 2010 emerges)

          1. When it comes to Beyonce they know that no matter what, there's a special place in my heart for that woman. Even if she doesn't know that I exist, it's there. With pop music it's all alike these days and more often than not it's hard to pick up on which is good and which is really just a carbon copy with a little bit of a personal touch. So when Lady Gaga came around to slap us in the face and leave our jaws dropped with Bad Romance, not only had I fallen in love but Beyonce managed to come up with this little gem of a video in collabo with with her. I died the day bad romance arrived but it only seems like Beyonce came back and resurrected me only to kill me - yet again- with Video Phone. So this brings me to a little tweet that I wrote today, Who needs love and family this holiday season when they have the best gift of all? A Beyonce & Lady Gaga collabo. Just in time for early gifts!

<span style="font-family: Verdana,sans-serif; Here I have written about my favourite blogs or stores where one can get the greatest tips but this is by far - though I've only recently been invited - the best website for mature style. So I spoke with Dr.Joey Shulman, a leading nutritionist in Canada with 4 books under her belt, she mentioned that if you are eating healthy 80% of the time then it's OK to cheat the other 20%. Though fat in foods is perceived as a bad thing in most mindsets, there are always good fats such as polyunsaturated or monounsaturated fats which the body can't produce on it's own so it's essential that students get 20-30% daily. In attempt to bring a healthy fatty food to the table at home, or in your lunch before class, I dug up a great recipe that's up there on the "health-meeter" but isn't boring or bland -because lets face it, egg whites and salmon aren't exactly the "meat and potatoes" of a meal. More often than not I find my self cooking with fattening ingredients (butter, lots of butter, or cream cheese) but beware calorie counters, for these can be your worst enemy, so why not supplement these things with healthier ingrediants? According to Dr.Shulman, things like mashed bananas or even apple sauce can replace butter. In this recipe you can see how something as simple as dates can completely eliminate butter. These little things make tremendous differences in our daily intake of healthy fatty acids. Dr.Shulman's 4th book is out November 3rd 2009 and it's called "HEALTHY SIN FOODS
DECADENCE WITHOUT THE GUILT"

RECIPE

Dates, which have a remarkable affinity for chocolate, stand in for butter in this rich, elegant cake. Ground walnuts contribute both depth of flavor and beneficial omega-3 fatty acids, while a touch of canola oil ensures a tender, moist texture and even more omega-3s. Round out the dessert with a dollop of vanilla low-fat frozen yogurt and some fresh raspberries.

Yield
10 servings (serving size: 1 wedge)

Ingredients
CAKE:
Cooking spray
1/2 cup chopped pitted dates
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup boiling water
1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
1 (1-ounce) slice firm white bread
1/2 cup walnut halves, toasted and divided
1/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup granulated sugar, divided
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 large egg
3 large egg whites

GLAZE:
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/4 cup boiling water
1 tablespoon dark corn syrup
1 teaspoon instant coffee granules
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup powdered sugar
Preparation
Preheat oven to 350°.

Coat a 9-inch round cake pan with cooking spray, and line bottom of pan with wax paper. Coat the wax paper with cooking spray.

To prepare cake, combine dates, 1/2 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup boiling water, and 1 teaspoon coffee granules; let stand 20 minutes. Place bread in a food processor, and pulse 10 times or until coarse crumbs form to measure 1/2 cup. Place crumbs in a large bowl. Reserve 10 walnut halves for garnish. Lightly spoon the flour into a dry measuring cup, and level with a knife. Combine remaining walnuts, flour, and salt in food processor, and process until finely ground. Add to breadcrumbs. Place date mixture, 1/3 cup granulated sugar, oil, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and egg in food processor, and process until smooth, scraping the sides of bowl once. Add date mixture to breadcrumb mixture, stirring well.

Beat egg whites with a mixer at high speed until soft peaks form. Gradually add 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon at a time, beating until stiff peaks form. Gently stir one-fourth of the egg white mixture into batter; gently fold in the remaining egg white mixture. Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake at 350° for 25 minutes or until cake springs back when lightly touched. Cool in pan for 10 minutes on a wire rack, and remove from pan. Remove the wax paper. Cool completely on wire rack.

To prepare glaze, combine 1/3 cup cocoa and the next 4 ingredients (cocoa through 1 teaspoon coffee granules), stirring until smooth. Stir in 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. Cover and chill for 1 hour. Gradually add powdered sugar to the cocoa mixture, beating with a mixer at medium speed until smooth and thick.

Place cake layer on a plate. Spread the glaze evenly over top and sides of cake. Arrange reserved walnut halves on top.

-Michael Stuckless

Recipe Courtesy of Cookinglight.com

A Season of Note

Autumn is definitely a season of new coming. Even though Spring is better described that way in a more physical manner I feel like Autumn is the beginning of every thing else. With new shows on a time crunch for series or even season premiers and school for students there are fresh starts all around. September is among the most immense in fashion magazines, not to mention, my birthday. So what I'm saying is this week I am here to bring you a list of "new comings" for September.

Starting with a few new looks that are definitely going to take over I decided to give my take on what's in store. So with fresh eyes I noticed that this season is absolutely taken over by the whole country meets modern day retro look. It's fine by me because my favorite colours -ones that could be considered almost putrid- are on an up rise. If you don't know what the hell I am talking about here's an example.

These I found while surfing the web, I also noticed on the left in this photo among others, the boot. Winter is with out doubt the time for boots but this coming Fall seems to be a time never better so lets not get ahead of our selves. Maybe even a good moccasin?

What ever the case I thought I would show you a few looks to give you a better idea of whats ahead. I can't wait to see the rest of the stuff there's so much more besides who doesn't want an excuse to wear their vintage over coat?

Next is the world of television. For those nights at home with a bowl of pasta - My comfort food- I thought I'd help you out by mentioning a few shows due this fall.

My number one favorite in the comeback book:

90210 will be back Thursdays this fall

The second season of 90210 focuses on the West Beverly group as they begin their all-important Junior year. It not only blew my mind once again, but I came perilously close to freezing to death from the constant wave of chills it was delivering (is that weird to say?) This next song is Kid Cudi and Lady Gaga, This woman can keep working and I will never get tired of her music, the song also features Kanye West & Common. It just keeps me going, somewhat of a catchy tune for lack of better expression. That said I'm sure you want the name! Make Her Say. Click the title of this weeks post for the video!

I always enjoy cooking. I hate to say it but I do, so instead of keeping it to my self I am going to share one of my favorite recipes that not only please me but keeps the family delighted every time. In recent days I have been experimenting allot with different things. There are those who enjoy their meat most and there are those who live for pasta or bread, why not enjoy both? This dish is one of my all time favorite, it has cheese, chicken, spinach and a really tasty sauce. What more could you ask for?

This is The 3 Cheese Chicken Pasta Penne Bake

What You Need-

1-1/2 cups multi grain penne pasta, uncooked ( I use normal but that's just me)

1 pkg. (283 g) fresh baby spinach leaves

1 lb. (450 g) boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-size pieces

1 tsp. dried basil leaves

1-1/2 cups (1/2 of 700-mL jar) pasta sauce

1-2/3 cups (1/2 of 796-mL can) diced tomatoes, drained

1/4 cup PHILADELPHIA Light Cream Cheese Spread ( I am obsessed with Phili cream cheese)

1 cup Part Skim Mozzarella Shredded Cheese, divided

2 Tbsp. 100% Parmesan Light Grated Cheese

Make It-

HEAT oven to 375ºF. Cook pasta as directed on package, adding spinach to the boiling water for the last 1 min.

MEANWHILE, heat large nonstick skillet sprayed with cooking spray on medium-high heat. Reduce heat to low simmer for 3 mins or until chicken is cooked through. Stir in cream cheese spread until melted.

DRAIN pasta and spinach; return to same saucepan. Sprinkle with the rest of the mozzarella cheese and the Parmesan cheese. Bake for like 3 mins or until cheese is melted.

Now for Laughs. One of my all time favorite television hosts, actors, comedian/writer would have to be Russell Brand. I once told a friend that when he tweets it makes my day 9 times out of ten and, well it's like a treat every time he does, who needs Iced green tea lemonade or even Starbucks when you have Russell on twitter (how many things will I say today that are weird?) ending this and saying no more I will leave you with his twitter so you can find out for your self. www.twitter.com/rustyrockets.

Au revoir ~ Michael Stuckless

Rain, Rain Go Away.. In weeks past I spoke about getting out and enjoying the outdoors and as the week goes by (well two weeks) I always find these awesome ideas running through my head for different posts. I am always writing them down so as not to forget these great manifestations. Earlier this week I had an idea among others that I considered would be best for this week even though the spring is coming to its conclusion and the extra sticky weather is arriving, people find them selves in a rut when that rain hits and they're sitting at home with nothing but a blackberry and a laptop.

I put together a great list of the latest Block Busters (some straight to DVD) so that you don't find your self in such a predicament. Thanks to Block Buster Canada I was able to bring in these titles:

The Grudge 3 which went straight to DVD was released on May 12th

“Kayako’s curse from The Grudge and The Grudge 2 continues killing the residents
of a Chicago apartment building. What am I doing with my life? Now I am always thinking about what I want in the future and how I plan to ensue my dreams. But I mean the career paths I do plan on taking aren’t so rewarding in the sense that I may not get paid as much as one might had they chose to become a Doctor or a Lawyer for instance. So basically what I began to think to my self was this: If I plan on becoming a Writer, Journalist or Broadcaster I want to be sure that I can (as a great teacher of mine always says) “ live to work and not work to live”. So all of this got me thinking even more. We all want to live luxuriously do we not ? Well I can sure speak for my self, I mean it’s not all about material but I don’t want to be the guy who apologizes to his friends and explains why he can’t go out for a drink because he just paid his bills. In any case my thoughts went to something else said teacher once spoke about (my brain was in a lot of places at this moment) she said that the younger we start putting away money or investing the more time we have to allow it to grow and so in the end we are able to be “comfortable” or “financially free” even earlier.

Things like RRSP’s or savings accounts which gain interest are the best places to begin. I mean if you take 10% of each paycheck and put it into one of these accounts bi-weekly the interest will accumulate from there. I know what your thinking: what if I’m already 20, 29, 36? Well don’t fret you can still have money and be free unfortunately it will just take you a little longer than one who may be 16 or 17. These capital gains are what will make sure that you have money when you decide to withdraw or retire. Why so serious is a good question. Although you shouldn’t allow these thoughts to place a burden on your shoulders you should definitely think about them so your not that guy who can’t go out with his buds or that girl who can’t have that girls night out she deserves ever so badly.

If you have any questions do ask! It’s the lack of education that keeps a lot of Canadians from buying houses or getting that dream car they’ve always wanted. I know I may seem a little young to know such information but this is something I have been and still are researching because if I have one goal in life it’s to be able to live stably so I am able to help others what ever the case.

I recommend this book for starters: The Wealthy Barber by David Chilton

“In this engaging tale set in hometown, Canada, our financial hero – Roy, the wealthy Barber – combines simple concepts, common sense, and an insight into human nature to shape the shaggy financial affairs of Dave, Sue, Tom and Cathy. And he does it not by hectoring them about budgeting but by giving them a set of practical, easy-to-implement guidelines”

Best,

~Michael

Prosperous

Living a long and happy life is something we all desire. I don't know about you but I plan on living well beyond my 100's. Lucky for me this may be possible for our generation. Although this sounds ridiculous it can happen and all it takes is a little routine in our day-to-day lives and some healthy habits. So this week I'm back to share my routines and healthy habits.

Living long involves a lot of conscious decisions on our part for we can not expect to live long on unhealthy foods or poor exercising habits and we sure can't expect to live past 80 if we are chronic smokers. Here’s what I do to escape that couch potatoinng or well potato chip and milk shake diet: Each day sounds like a lot of time to spend on something so time consuming but in all honesty it won't seem or really take as long as it sounds when you first start. Often times people make the mistake of thinking they can only run short distances but again this may not be the case. When I began running I could barely run for 10 minutes! Then I learnt what I was doing wrong. I was running non stop. Now each time I run I am able to run for 40 minutes and all I do is run non stop for 10 minutes and then stop and walk for 2 minutes ect. Had I tried to run 40 minutes when I first started I would have probably dropped dead in my tracks and wheezed my self into a coma. As you can see after a wile you are able to gradually increase your running time and speed.

Another thing that we need to be conscious of is our breathing, posture and the food we choose to ingest. People often slouch when they sit and so our lungs are compressed where as if we were sitting up constantly our lungs will be fully open and this allows us to get full breaths and more oxygen to our blood cells. When we breathe we aren't getting full breaths and as I said we aren't getting all the oxygen we could be getting so every once and a wile take a deep breath and fill your lungs as much as you can. Believe it or not this can contribute to your overall life span. As for food we are all in the know of what's healthy and what’s not but we don't need Jenny Craig or Extreme Fitness to live healthy or lose weight.

I figured I would share a few good ideas or tips to move you and at least keep you fit for what ever you may be doing. My family is big on health and my grandmother is always giving me awesome tips and cool recipes for healthy meals. It may sound like a bad thing but to this day my Grandmother can out run me when we go running together. It all has to do with her lifestyle and the way she thinks. This is keeping her young and healthy. So I figured (as I always "figure") I would bring some good protein ideas to your thoughts. In past posts I mentioned smoothies for my "Spring Eats!" post. The reason I bring this back is that if you add ground Flax Seed, Sunflower seed and Sesame seed and add it to your drink it is a natural tasteless source of protein. Who wants to use that gross reptile food smelling chocolate "muscle building" powder anyways?

Until Next week I do bid you Adieu.

Listen.

<o:smarttagtype name="place" namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"></o:smarttagtype>Music is something we can‘t remove from our lives. It’s every where. It’s in our homes, it’s in our media and it’s in our lives permanently. It’s up to us to find the music we love so that we can be happy because there is no sense in surrounding our selves with terrible tunes that only make us miserable. So I am back this week with some more music to share, in hopes to help you find the music you love.

I would like to start off by announcing something very exciting for those who are into the whole Indie / hip hop scene. Earlier this week I went to see K-OS (not that “announce worthy “right? ) But wait. He is having a “Pay What You Want” tour that basically speaks for its self. As an all music kinda guy, I am pumped for this event because not only is he an amazing artist who I do recommend to others but he is also taking admirable attempts at this recessions crappy existence. If you know what I mean. Also try Kenan Bell.

So without further ado here are this weeks picks. For three young women who are quite attractive they are rather vulgar. Their music revolves around sex, drugs, rock and roll and they love to diss other women. Who are these people you’re asking your self? I will tell you who these people are. They’re The Millionaires. Now Listener Discretion is advised but you’ll get over it. If you follow The Mad Hatters Book on twitter than you will know some of these things already. Nasa is a rising hip hop group who are hitting charts every where. By featuring artists like Santogold and Lyke Li they are getting peoples attention. Try listening to Gifted but a word of advice: If you’re one of those people who can’t watch a bad video because it will ruin the song then do go ahead and skip this video if you can. Just saying. That said I am thinking about a band that is making a comeback and couldn’t be doing a better job. No Doubt is back! I know you’ve probably heard this but the reason I bring it up now is because their tour is beginning to start. Weather we choose to believe it or not, it is taking a toll. These days (it may just be me) it's harder then ever to find a job. Places all over the city are cutting back and wages are rising. All this into consideration I figured why not take a jab at these penny pinching tedious times. So here are a few things to do, see and places to go when you are seeking "recession friendly" fun. Often time’s people are outside especially when the warm weather hits and there are enough half naked opposites to go around. My fellow beach dwellers who can't seem to go to the beach and just enjoy a simple sport and find themselves constantly browsing or buying an espresso as opposed to street meat or a simple ice cream, have no fear there is still a way to get that vintage look that seems to be in. Be it less glamorous but much fun when you have the right people to make light of things there are always great deals - here it comes... - thrift shopping. It's not for every one but you'll always find something for you if it's something your willing to ensue.

Something to see would be our city. Make it a thing to get out one day and drive around. Explore, I can guarantee that each person has somewhere they've never been or at least has that special place they can go over and over where it will never get old. The public transit will take you any where you desire so get out there and go to Kensington Market where they have street fares every Sunday and different types of shows. Every June Toronto has a Jazz Festival, although I have never really been a jazz fan and a few of you may not either. I am a very open minded person especially when it comes to music so if you are any thing like me you should get your self down there this summer and check it because I won't lie I dig it. Some one told me a few weeks ago that they had first discovered Down with Webster at the Festival and you (as I was) may be surprised at the amount of homegrown rock artists you may find down there. For those of you who haven't heard of Down with Webster don't fret. A few weeks ago I went to see them in concert and I paid $50 dollars to see them. This just goes to show how last year they had been seen for free on the streets of Toronto trying to get known and so again if your anything like me and you love to know the next step in music then who knows this year you may just find something you fancy.

I hope you have gained something useful out of this weeks post my friends. I want to let every one know that this coming Wednesday is Earth Day and I know it's been said a lot but I want to just say it's not that hard to flick a switch even for those who don't pay electricity. To flick a switch isn't always to save you, it's to save us. Save energy also ditch the garbage from your lunch in the right place. Little things in large numbers create change. Let’s do those little things together to make that large number and in turn create that change. Next week I am getting back to my pop culture craving side and I will have a whole list of new music, artists and albums. I like to keep away from the mainstream although there is always a little mainstream in every one.

~ Auf Weidesein !

M1K3Y.5.

Social.Thats all.

People all over North America are constantly socializing. Aside from that small percentage of the North American population, we use every means we can in order to stay in the loop. I want to get into the most popular of all the social sites this week. It's always out with the old (Myspace) and in with the new. Need I say more, we are constantly finding our selves lurking and knowing more information then one should about another. Having had a Myspace I realized that these things all have the same concept: staying in the loop. As a twitter user my self I am all about finding new things and keeping up with society today. Whatever it may be, I like to know and that feeling is mutual throughout humanity because weather I am the fist to point this out or not, people today are nosey. For you non tweeter's out there who don't even know what this is or may have heard of it but haven't fully discovered it, I'm here to save the moment. Twitter is a place where people can update their status where ever they may be. Most "tweeter's" tweet useful things and cool tips. It's not in any way like Facebook or Myspace because it lacks that TMI ( Too Much Information ) aspect where it doesn't give phone numbers and postal codes. In case you haven't seen my twitter widget on my page to the right, I am a constant tweeter and though I may tweet randomly. I am also able to keep you updated on Mad Hatter Posts and even new Music, movies and other things. Check out my twitter page and see for your self http://twitter.com/stuckless Please note that you can also follow Celebrities, Bands, television channels and many more aside from your friends!

This is more of an artsy way to share things, but Flikr is an amazing site where one can share their photography and cool graphic designs. I know that this isn't a social site rather a better version of Photo bucket ( I went there ) it's still a good way to share your work and discuss publicly Flikr has been around for a wile now but I realize that not a lot of people I know haven't even bothered to surf this awesome site so I am mentioning this now so that way you may go forth and serve as an official Flikr member. An easy start would be following this link http://www.flickr.com/photos/darksilhouettesandnoregrets/ which will take you to my photo stream.

S~Thanks every body and have a great holiday! I will be back next week but you can catch updates on facebook and twitter throughout he week.

M1K3Y.5.

Spring Eats !

Last week I mentioned the movie Where The Wild Things Are, however I would like to remind you that it will be out October 16th 2009 ! Thats this fall every body so bust out your nerdy convention costumes and be prepared to use Halloween as an excuse. I want to move on to bigger things this week which isn't that much when it comes to movies if you know me, I am pretty in the know for lack of better expression. Any whoo this week it's all about food. You got it, my absolutley fantastic love, reason for living and the origion of all thoughts in my brain. I am going to touch base on a few places and it's all about cool creations fun desserts and fancy entrees. This week I thought for my self and delved into our city in an attempt to find out where the latest in spring treats are pointing most. As a big frozen treat kind of guy myself I am always experimenting with cool creations ( in a litteral sence ) and crazy tastes. Though my kitchen and on many occaisions others have been coverd with exploded substance such as wild berries, yogurt or worse; honey I have managed to come up with some great recipes to cool off or fill up. One of my newest and favorite would have to be Peanut Butter & Banana smoothies which were suggested to me by a good friend and fellow smoothie scientist Rachel. I have posted the Recipe at the bottom of this entry and also on my facebook page.

Okay so for fun desserts I am looking at a place that is absolutley fantastic this spring : it's on the upper Danforth in the middle of Greek town. My friends are always suggesting that I try it but as I always say I am too much of a skinny fat kid that if I dare enter I will give my self a heart attack. I am one to be penny wise when it comes to going out with my friends so this place is fun for the whole Clique, it's affordable small and best of all you get to make your own treats ! Let me tell you how much of a bargain that is. See what I did there ? I didn't say fun for the whole fam because no one wants to hear me talk about family time any more than they have to hear it from, well their actual families, Suggested by a close friend who is a graduate from my current school and who is moved on to Ryerson University for Radio & Television Amy McIntee gave me this place and if you have any will power I do recommend you trust in my sources. Okay so for you East York dwellers this one comes from my self and good friend Carlie Manners. St. Claires Ice cram deffinetly has the best icecream of the east end with this largest quantities possible at 2861 Danforth. It's almost too good to be true to have delightfullness in a cup or cone. This is at Danforth and Dentonya and it opens just next month with again rescssion friendly prices.

Last but not least Entrees. For this I am going to give you a recipe of my own. I am a big pasta eater and a small cook. I am not a good cook but when I am cooking I am probably making pasta and where there's pasta there is cheese. Cream Cheese. I want to suggest that you cook as much as possible with cream cheese it's light, tastey and spring approved and also simple. I am a very lazy person and any hting simple or efficient yet good is a miracle in my eyes. I will post a good recipe I have used once or twice from Kraft. Next week I'm going to be talking about fun recession friendly ways to get out with the friends and in earlier posts I have talked about New York and places to go wile staying in the Big Apple. Well the news is, we're going to New York in 4 weeks ! and I will be blogging and Tweeting through the whole thing on good tips and other things so follow me on Twitter. To the Right are a bunch of updates made by me @ Twitter. www.twitter.com/stuckless. I'm convinced I will see a famous person and snap a pick on the Nikon ! We all do it right ? I was like that when I saw the trailer for Horton Hears a Who, Twilight and now the subject of this weeks post: Where The Wild Things Are. This was a book I loved as a child and even to this day, although I will never betray my ever lasting fascination with Dr.Suess, this book has always had a place in that large red gushy thing in my chest that produces my life (<3).>

I want to cover a large amount of space this week, and in order to do that I feel like should mention a few different topics. This week as I sort of surfed the Internet I stumbled upon a few tours that just happen to be coming to Toronto. The All American Rejects are back this month to play in Toronto on the 15th and they're rockin a new album released in mid December called When the World Comes Down and let me tell you I was at my local Sunrise Records on the day of it's release. But they have a whole new kind of revamped show. They're no sell outs that's for sure, their music is still the same image but better and I know they're sort of mainstream but every one loves a little mainstream once in a wile.

Gone are the days of slush, drippy noses and huge jackets. It's Spring and slowly the warmth is rolling in. I have yet to be rid of my boots but I am always a very fashionable person weather it be a plaid shirt and a total nerdy sweater or a sick top with a pull over cardigan and maybe a hat, I'm sort of really new at this and now I am getting into the whole season thing. I notice things change and people are always looking at seasonal styles before the season even starts. I'm not totally ignorant to this whole new world but I am still trying to figure out what this season is all about. I notice if I have even the slightest gut feeling that something I am wearing is a bad idea and I ignore this it always comes back later that day to bite me in the ass. This isn't all about me though I am talking about what I do, am, and try, I am still saying always trust your gut. If you consider your self stylish and feel a little something in the back of your mind shouting behind a muted door; don't do it, don't do it- and you ignore it chances are you will get a funny look. So my tips to you are these : Try to find your own style in the latest trend. Keep it up beat but not crazy and what ever you do please stay away from becoming a clone. If you wish to define yourself don't use Television. Every one watches Television and I can guarantee a lot of people are looking for the same thing as you and thus you become a look-alike. Try using websites because chances are that not every one in Canada has head of that website as much as Canada has heard of the 90210 spin off. If you take a look at some of my favorite Blogs/ Websites to the left there is the Sartorial list where one might find an interesting look from stylish citizens around the globe. I recommend you delve into this strange world.

I recommend Dan Levy's DOOP if you aren't already "doing Doop" if you will, he is the source of my inspiration and very pop culture savvy. In fact I have learnt most of what I know ( which is very little ) from him and wish only to pass on the wisdom to you non DOOP doers.

Hopefully this has been a good read ? PLEASE COMMENT I wanna know.

Note - "If your still chasing your dreams, your not running fast enough."
Sean Combs.

Au revoir.

M1k3y.5.

A Few Fresh Tunes.

When I say "a few fresh tunes " it's not to say fresh as in " oh that sh*t be fresh" although, I go to a school where that would be fully understood, my lingo is far more sophisticated than that. Moving to what I really mean to say is this : here are a few songs & artists I have come across during my journeys weather it be to the MTV studio, a club theater or my couch on the Internet. Try the new single from Depeche mode fresh off their new album Sounds Of the Universe which drops April 20th and for you Americans this European band won't drop their album in the States until the 21st. I have always been very open minded when it comes to music in a way like none other. I wouldn't say I like every genre but I am sure to like any thing that has an upbeat sort of feel that'l get even my grandmother out of her walker. I recently came across a band that seems to do that and much more, fortunately for me they played a free show at Masonic Temple the other day. Let me tell you how amazing they were ! I could hardly hold still. They had thrown these glow sticks into the crowd and told us to wave them as we danced ( I know it sounds like some mad underground rave where I must have been high on something illegal ) but they were so fantastic I highly suggest you get your self and your bestie a ticket to one of their shows and attend ! I know what you were thinking wile you were reading that extremely long sentence and that was : WHO !?! this band is Plushgun. I posted their myspace with this blog post so please do go on and lurk them. I know every one is talking about Marianas Trench and they're song Cross My Heart but I just want to inform you followers who aren't in the loop and don't already have their whole album either illegally downloaded or rightfully purchased, that Celebrity Status is just as amazing if not better. A good friend of mine says it has no absolute meaning but it's still a good song, I agree. So get your selves an iTunes account and get up to speed with the times.

I do apologize for my short blogs and I promise this next one will be a reader but until then Auf Wiedersehen !

M1k3y .5.

Why The Hell- OMG

So I'm at the show last night and people are like moving and I'm getting pushed. First of all Coraline. Oh My God, it was fantastic. I went to see two movies last weekend and actually made it out to an Advanced Screening of He's Just Not That Into You. Getting back to Coraline, I loved it. It was just as strange and fascinating as anticipated. As for He's Just Not That Into You, it was terrible. It has every star in the world in it and so I went to see it knowing I would love it. Silly me. I apparently know nothing. This was possibly the worst sappy chick flick of my life, and I like allot of "sappy" movies. Big disappointment. Any ways sorry for the big Delay and hey Dan Levy has his own sort of news letter/ Blog called "DOOP" I haven't checked it out yet but let me know.

Apologies for my lack of consistence and latest blog.

M1k3y.5.

Coraline.

I'm back. Early, yes but I think it's time I put my Movie hat on. I am really big on new movies and you may find a post from time to time of the same nature as the one your reading now. I have a few names to lay out here, Tim Burton. Coraline. My all time favorite Director. You probably know him from the movies he's done and I know Everyone loves him and his movies but I don't think they really appreciate his work. They all just catagorize him and if your socially "labled" as an Emo, Goth, or dare I say it- Freak- you probably like his dark animations and twisted compositions. I'm not going to get into that. Coraline, Tim Burtons latest movie set for February 6th is an animated film. It looks absolutly prodigious, every time I see the trailer I get chills and that hasn't happend since Twilight. Yes I said it. Twilight. So like I said before from time to time you will see my "Movie hat" come on and I will just have to discuss a movie that is on my mind. You will deffinatly hear from me on February 7th about this movie. That's a promise. It will allow me time to ponder my conclusion.

Until Saturday I bid you adieu and a fine week.

~M1k3y.5.

Screw McDonalds

M1k3y here, I'm back this week with a whole lot to say. So I got my issue of GOOP this week and heres what I'm thinking : What the hell is she trying to run ? It's like she is advertising for different companies or some thing. "As much as I am a product of many places, I am a New York girl through and through." this week she outlines a bunch of pricy uptight hotels and restaurants. Each week it's something more. "Next week some of my closest friends and I will be sharing our favorite novels". Why does she have to put her high class in our faces I am sure this "Weekend " in New York she has outlined is unnecessarily expensive. Here is what I think about it all. Go to a Middle class restaurant. Screw McDonalds and give the rest of your money to a charity, Buy some homeless guy a new jacket to keep him warm this season or be a little less materialistic.

Thanks for reading this week.
